elcome to Celtic-Knot-Jewelry.com & CelticKnotJeweler.com, Home of The Celtic Knot Jeweler™ & Kincaid Designs™. Kincaid Designs is the shop name for

Steven Alexander and is the culmination of 30 years in the jewelry and technology fields.

Kincaid my ancestral family name. The Kincaids came to America from Scotland several generations ago. The Main graphic on the home page has the Alexander Scottish crest for my last name, and the Kincaid Tartan symbolically in the background for my ancestral name.

I'd like to share with you some of my background, so you may get a glimpse of how I design my jewelry, and gain a greater appreciation for the design you may be thinking of purchasing. Firstly, the jewelry you came here to find is 100% made by myself here in the U.S. All of the processes to create these designs were put together by myself and are the blending of three career paths over the past 30 years.

In the mid 70's, I began a lifelong love of silver and goldsmithing, studying with renowned silversmith Pheobe Blake in Long Island, NY. Pheobe taught me all phases of silver and gold work, which led to an award winning career for me. In the same timeframe I was starting on a 15 year stretch in the machinist trade. Here I learned much more about metal craft and tool making. In 1990 I traded in my micrometer for a computer and taught myself 3d computer design and 3d computer animation, gaining design skills with a mouse! During the past 9 years I have been teaching Computer Animation at the Pratt Institute in N. Y. City, and Jewelry Design at Dowling College in Oakdale, Long Island NY. I'm no longer in N. Y. and have relocated. I'm devoting my time to Celtic Knot Jewelry and Kincaid Designs.

The designs you will find here start their life from simple line designs either from a paper drawing or are created from lines in the computer. These simple 2 dimensional lines are transformed into 3 dimensional elements. These elements are 'forged' in complex computer programs into a digital mockup of the finished piece. Once I am satisfied with the quality and look, the design is cut into wax on a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine. Additional hand carving and hand assembly of the wax is then performed. This wax model is hand cast in a process known as Lost Wax Casting, either in Sterling Silver, or Gold. The result is a perfect blend between art and technology, and a higher quality, sturdy design Crafted to Last Lifetimes™. The piece is then hand finished and shipped to you. My designs are meant to be cherished for lifetimes and can be handed down for generations; ...they are not cheaply made trinkets.

I hope you find what you are looking for here, and please contact me if you would like to work on your custom designed wedding bands or other piece.
